Seattle-Tacoma KOA

We have safely arrived at the Seattle-Tacoma KOA, which will be our base for exploring the Seattle area the next three nights. You can't miss us when you come in the place. We're the very first rig you see. Being this close to the entrance, which is on a fairly busy thoroughfare, we could find ourselves being sleepless in Seattle!

Our last day in Port Angeles began foggy, which slowed us down just a bit. (It has nothing to do with driving; It's all about getting ourselves going on a foggy morning!) With hopes of leaving around 9:00, we departed just before 11:00. Before long it was time to hop off the Olympic Peninsula and cross the Hood Canal bridge.

In case you haven't noticed, we kind of have a thing for bridges. As we neared Tacoma, we paid our toll and crossed the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. (Or, would that be "bridges"?)

We scheduled our arrival to the Seattle area on Saturday for one reason: traffic. Our strategy paid off. We hit just a bit of traffic in Tacoma, but we were entertained by this bumper sticker. (We wondered if most Seattlites feel this way.)

We settled into our very visible spot at the KOA around 2:30, and the temperature was in the 90s. Seattle has felt the brunt of this heat wave that is scorching the Pacific Northwest. Earlier in the week they experienced all-time record highs that were well over the century mark. For a place that relies on Mother Nature for air conditioning, that's rough. We stayed cool and comfortable with Bullwinkle's air conditioning humming.

Just after dinner we enjoyed a quick visit from our friends Wayne and Caron who live in the area. They had spent the day in the heat at a jazz concert. Although they were exhausted and still another 30 minutes or so from home they made time to stop by. We're so glad they did. It was great to see them. We were so busy catching up we didn't think to take pictures! Thanks so much for making the detour, you two.
